Q:  How much will this cost?

A:  It's not rude to ask; after all it's one of the main reasons you have us come to your home for a consultation.  It's a tricky question to answer but a general rule to remember is 'it varies' but with M.T.McCaw you're in control.

In general for a typical remodeling project you'll want to factor about $150-$250/ sq. ft.  Keep in mind Additions or large scale projects can increase that number.

M.T.McCaw is always transparent with our costs.

How Much Will This Cost

Q:  How long will my remodel take?

A:  In this case - size matters.  Some projects, like a small three-piece bathroom can take only a few weeks; where larger projects, like additions, will take months.

In general you should give yourself enough time to truly get what you paid for.  Don't let superficial timelines push your expectations.  M.T.McCaw is schedule conscious when we build.  We know you want to enjoy your space as quickly as possible and aim to deliver.

We will always keep you in the loop.

How Long Will It Take

Q:  What is the M.T.McCaw Process?

A:  Short answers - It's tailored to you and your family.  We are a fantastic remodeling company with decades of experience, and that experience has taught us.  Keep things simple.

The longer answer:

Consultation:

Initially you'll meet with our talented design team where you'll discuss what you hope to accomplish with your remodel including overall design and budget.

Our team will provide you with a set of preliminary designs along with elevations & details.

Permitting

After you've sorted out the preliminary layout and you've decided to work with us; we move into the construction document phase.  This allows us to work closely with our Architect (or yours) to get the plans ready for permitting.

Construction

Once we've hashed out the details and submit and receive our permit; we'll move into the construction phase.  This is the most time-consuming portion of the project.

Once we've established our schedule we'll notify you of what materials and quantities you'll need to provide for the remodel as well as when we'll need them.  We like to allow our clients the control necessary to pick out what materials they'd like to live with for years to come.  Don't have an eye for design - that's OK, we can help you choose your materials or get you in touch with one of our partnering interior design companies.

Completion

Upon final completion of your project, it isn't just 'thanks so much' and we're gone.  We'll want to walk the property with you to ensure everything meets your satisfaction and catalog anything that might need a little extra love.

Q:  What should I expect during construction?

A:  We won't lie - Remodeling can be a messy business; but our crew are incredibly respectful of your home and your family.

Depending on the space we will often close off the room we're working in to limit the rest of the home to our dust.  Vents will be closed and sealed and a tare away zipper door installed at the openings of the room to be remodeled.

Each work day we are in your home will end with our thoughtful team cleaning up any loose debris and spending a few minutes organizing our tools and materials for the next work day.

What Should I Expect During

Q:  Do I need my own Architect?

A:  Short answer - No; we have the perfect team.

Some smaller projects don't need stamped drawings in order to get a permit for the work.  The projects that do it's a relatively straight forward process

If you prefer to use your own Architect we can coordinate with them to accomplish a common goal of turning your home into something amazing.

That being said - M.T.McCaw has cultivated fantastic relationships with some of Chicago-lands local Architects.  We've got you covered from preliminary design to final stamped & permitted construction documents ready to build from.
